Carlton S. Wisheart, Jr. 75, of Blossvale, NY; passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 17, 1947 in Rome, NY to the late Carlton S. and Jennie Dashnaw Wisheart, Sr.
Carl attended college at Mohawk Valley Community College. He served his country in the Army, serving active duty in Vietnam from 1967-1968.
He worked several jobs, working as a Truck Driver, Construction for LaBarge Bros. and in HVAC at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, NY.
He was a member and Past Commander of the Rome VFW Post #2246 and was a member of the Color Guard for many years. He was the Current Commander of the Frank J. Steczko – PAV Post. He was a member of the Rome American Legion, Smith Post #24.
Carl was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He liked to play pitch, shuffleboard at the VFW and enjoyed his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.
He is pre-deceased by his wife, Linda; his son, Christopher and nephews, John and Eric.
Carl is survived by two daughters, Missy Matthews and Connie (Mike) Widrig; five grandchildren, James T. (Ally Stocks) Matthews III, Lauren (Kenzie Caron) Addison, Justin (Katrina Oliver) Addison, Michael Addison and Trevor Addison, two great-grandchildren, Kutter James and Justin Michael; his loving Companion, Sally; and three siblings, John (Helen) Wisheart, Ricky (Janis) Ward and Linda (Phil) Buttacaroli; along with several nieces and nephews.
Jack Arnold Reising, age 72, of Woodhull Road, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at his residence.
Jack was born in Rome, on May 14, 1950, a son of Leon and Dorothy Bielby Reising. He graduated from Clinton High School, with The Class of 1968 and joined the U.S. Army in 1969, serving his country in the Vietnam War, where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He also served in Germany and in the National Guard and Army Reserves. He was mobilized after the 911 attacks, to serve with the Army Corp of Engineers, from 2002-2010.
Later, Jack was employed at the Oneida County Office Building, retiring after 30 years, as an investigator for the Department of Social Services.
On August 14, 1999, Jack was united in holy matrimony with Mary Beth Christensen, at St. Patrick’s Church, Forestport.
Jack was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 490, The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 944, the Taberg American Legion and the Rome V.F.W.
Jack was a devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills Football Team and the Utica Comets. He also enjoyed boating and golfing and most of all Jack enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
In addition to his wife, Mary Beth Reising, Jack is survived by four daughters, and one son; Jennifer (Eric) Armstrong, Jack Resing, Jr., and Sarah Moffat, Kerri (Ben) Morris, Dawn Reising and Jeff Egelston, Samantha (Charles) Vanderworken; ten grandchildren, Eric, Andrew, Josh Armstorng, Alyssa and Austin Reising, MaKenzy and Zachery Morris, Julian Egelston, Abigale and Emily Vanderworken; five brothers and sisters, Terry Campbell, Douglas Reising, Lou Ann and Dick Hillage, Sue Ann Callahan and Terry Newton, Leon Resign, III and Sue and one sister in law, Betty Sweet and Carla and John Christensen and Casey Stevenson.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Leon and two siblings, David Lee and Linda Lou.
Jack will be fondly remembered as a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Matthew Rawson, on Friday, February 3, 2023, at 11:00 A.M., at St. Patrick’s Church, Forestport. James M. “Jim” Conners, Sr., 75, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. He was born in Rome on September 9, 1946, a son of the late John and Mary (Quinn) Conners. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and on December 9, 1965 he joined the United States Army. He served two tours overseas during the Vietnam War before being Honorably Discharged on September 14, 1967.
On July 28, 1990, he was united in marriage to Judy Keeter. He was previously married to Vicky Smartz.
Jim worked at Oneida Limited for 37 years until he left in 2008 to finished his career at Revere Copper Co., finally retiring in 2011.
Jim was a very active member of the Rome Veterans of Foreign Wars #2246. He served in the Color Guard and as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors for many years.
Surviving besides his loving wife, Judy, is a daughter, Lori White; a sister, Judith Snyder (Keith); a brother, John Conners (Marilu); two step-children, Jerri Thompson (Charlie) and Sean Metzger (Debra); nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, James M. Connors, Jr.
MSgt. Horace G. “Harry” Livingston, USAF, (Ret.), 89, of Rome, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 26, 2022. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, on April 1, 1933, the son of the late Horace and Barbara Livingston. On July 19, 1952, he married Joan A. Scanlon in St. Peter’s Church in Rome. Together they shared a blessed union of 62 loving years until her passing May 4, 2015. She was the love of his life.
Harry retired from the United States Air Force in 1972 after 21 years of service. He served in Korea 1953-54 and Vietnam 1968-69, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
He went on to work for Carl’s Drug Store for seven years as Director of Security. In 1979, he became a Federal Police Officer on Griffiss Air Force Base. After eleven years, he was transferred to Base supply in pickup and delivery, where he worked until the base closed in 1995.
Harry loved playing golf at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course with a great group of men and women. He was a member of the Lee Legion Post 1794, Frank J. Steczko Post, Vietnam Vets of America and life-time member, Past Commander and Color Guard Captain for 28 years at the VFW Post 2246 of Rome.
Harry is survived by his five children, Deborah Baer (Walt), Diana Livingston, Janet Livingston (George Evans), Karen Martel (Ron) and Daniel Livingston; a sister, Delores Jones; three grandchildren, Nicole Cataldo (Karl), Natalie Lusher (Steve) and Devin Feldmeyer; five great-grandchildren, Alex, Samantha (Justin), Olivia, Madden, and Mason; one great-great-grandson, Michael; and several nieces and nephews. Harry spent the last years of his life with his fiancé, Linda Russell. He was predeceased by a grandson, Dustin Livingston; and two sisters, Joan Grau and Gloria Haug.
Ronald H. Bambury, 73, of Rome, N.Y. passed away on January 10, 2022 at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. He was born on May 29, 1948 in Rome, N.Y. the eldest child of Herbert and Laura Bambury(DiMarco). Ronald attended Rome schools.
In February 1969, Ronald enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served until his honorable discharge in February 1990. Upon his enlistment, he and his young family were stationed at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia attached to the Fighter Squadron VA42. VA42 was attached to aircraft carrier USS Saratoga out of Mayport, Florida. Ronald proudly worked on A6 Intruder Jets during his years of service and held several other duties as well. Ronald’s first deployment out to Sea was during Vietnam in the early Spring of 1972. While deployed, he met up with, by chance, his brother, Herbert Bambury, who was also serving in the Navy, aboard a submarine. In December of 1972, Ronald and his young family were stationed at Sigonella, Sicily until their return to VA42 at NAS Oceana in the Spring of 1974. Ronald received the following awards during his service: Vietnam Service Medal with One Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon(2 Awards), Meritorious Unit Commendation(2 Awards), Good Conduct Award and National Defense Service Medal.
Ronald married Christine Bambury(Fusco) on July 21, 1969 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Ronald was employed as a supervisor with the U.S. Census Bureau for twenty years up until his passing.
Ronald was a member of the VFW 2246 and held many offices including that of past District 4 Commander.
Ronald enjoyed fishing and playing pool in local leagues. His pool skills earned him and his team trips to Las Vega, Nevada for pool tournaments.
Ronald enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and especially loved watching his grandchildren play sports.
Ronald’s children will miss finding lawn ornaments that he had secretly placed in their yards while they were away(only recently being caught by them on their home security cameras).
Ronald is survived by his loving children, Ronald and Lisa Bambury of Chesapeake, VA., James and Janice Bambury of Elizabeth City, NC., Michael Bambury(Lindsey Phillips) of Westmoreland, N.Y. and Melissa Bolton of Lee, N.Y. Ronald “Papa” is also survived by his four loving grandchildren, Alex Colon, Trevor Bambury, Abriana Bolton and Jamie Bambury. Ronald is also survived by his siblings, Herbert and Sue Bambury of Lee, N.Y., Robert and Kay Bambury of Rome, N.Y., Elizabeth and Tony Santulli of Endicott, N.Y., Elaine Bambury(Marc Rossi) of Ava, N.Y., Kenneth Bambury(Wanda) of North Carolina and Laura Bambury(Bryan Dekin) of Vienna, N.Y. Ronald is also survived by his cousin, Marian “Punky” Hess Weidemann of Rome, N.Y. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as several great nieces and great nephews.
Ronald was predeceased by his parents Herbert and Laura, his daughter, Amelia Angelica, his niece Jessae Bambury and his Uncle Tony Bove.
Ronald’s family would like to express their gratitude to the medical staff at both Rome Memorial Hospital and Upstate University Hospital for their kindness and compassion while caring for their Dad/Papa.
